I may fly overseas to this one . I still would love to see ""The Big British 4 " with Saxon, Iron Maiden, Judas Preist and Motorhead or any mix the contains Saxon of course. Sounds like a great idea.

((re-written to clarify and fix my poor writing.))

Of course I am no 'Hater' but I will query your wisdom including Priest or Motorhead in the NWOBHM movement. They were both around long before The New Wave of British Heavy Metal got going.

Stated again here. I note it does not say OD Saxon so my guess is its real although, if Priest are playing such a mega set, where do Saxon actually fit in with that and another support band ?

Just to clarify I am not trying to dampen anyones enthusiasm for this possible gig - I have seen it before where bands are announced on bills and it doesn't come off for whatever reason. Most recently the first Saxon tour last year, Black Spiders were announced by venues as the third support (they are in fact printed on my Bournemouth ticket) yet Fury UK were the third support band - which personally I was very pleased with.

I would hate for any hard core Saxon fan to buy a ticket and then Saxon are not on the bill.

Just noticed that the doors open time is stated as 1730 hours so this may explain where Saxon fit in ?

Phew, that could be a long night standing on these old legs

If it is 100% confirmed then that seems like a bit of a missed oppurtunity to me. Whilst Kobra and the Lotus seem like a pretty good band and obviously the organisers want to appeal to the widest possible audience, you are right Graham, that Saxon will get a fairly 'short' stage time and that certainly dampens my enthusiasm somewhat when I would have to take into account not only the much more expensive gig ticket but also train tickets and possibly accomodation. As much as I would like to go I cannot justify that sort of money for a 40-45 minute set. If I thought Saxon would be getting 60-90 minutes then that would be different.

I would certainly not expect Saxon to get equal billing but having them as the only 'special guest' would guarantee them a decent 'slot'. I know the trend these days is to have three bands (or more) on a bill but I think to treat the guys as just another 'support band' is wrong.

Just my opinion

Just thought I'd give a more optimistic opinion!
When I saw Megadeth as special guest for Judas Priest - they got an hour.

Priest's epitaph tour set was 2h15min last summer, so with an 11pm curfew they wouldnt start earlier than 8.45pm. That leaves 5.30pm til 8.30pm to fit in Kobra and Lotus, Saxon and changeover between bands.

That is of course if Saxon are playing, which is not confirmed yet

Yeah, if doors are 5.30pm then that makes a fair difference
