Default "We will remember" John Jones aka JJ

I have deliberately placed this topic in Saxon General rather than Smalltalk, but mods, please feel free to move it if required.

For those people who have followed Saxon for many years, you may remember John Jones, aka JJ, who was Saxon's tour manager. A really top bloke and a good friend, who passed away 17 years ago today.

He was taken from us too soon.
Sleep well my friend.

Yep, rest in piece JJ. First time I met JJ was back on the Solid Ball of Rock tour (1991 at Manchester International 2) it was the 2nd Saxon gig I went to - first one being 3 years before at the Boardwalk when I was 13!.

JJ was cool. There wasn't any "Standing in a Queueing" * (looked up the definition) back then and it was a stunningly poor turnout. Support back then was Hope and Glory (good) and Dangerous (errm, vocalist could have won gurning competitions worldwide, in the same way that Camilla Parker Bowles would have a chance in the Grand National).

I met him a few times after that, and he always looked out for me and remembered. The last time we had a good chat was outside Colne, on the Dogs of War tour in 1995.

A real sad loss, and it wasn't until I read Biffs autobiography that I realised he'd been with Saxon since 80/81.

Absent friends.
