Splitting 7 albums over four discs is a bit odd, but you still get all the albums in remastered form with bonus tracks for £13. You couldn't get close to that price if you got 'em individually, so if you're willing to tolerate the layout then you get a good deal. I'm getting this very soon, £13 for seven albums remastered with bonus tracks is a steal. I'll have a double of EHL I but no biggie.

Just ordered The Carrere Years today, can't wait to finally have some physical copies of the early albums.
EDIT: Just arrived this morning (Day after I made the first post), great little collection. Also wrote a review on Amazon, take a look if you like. http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-revi...owViewpoints=1 Last edited by Sir Lionheart; 04-25-2012 at 11:03 PM. |

Sorry for the bump and the double post, but here's a bit more detail on what to expect from the EMI boxset.
CD 1 - Innocence Is No Excuse (1985): 01. Rockin' Again 02. Call of the Wild 03. Back On the Streets 04. Devil Rides Out 05. Rock N' Roll Gypsy 06. Broken Heroes 07. Gonna Shout 08. Everybody Up 09. Raise Some Hell 10. Give It Everything You've Got Bonus Tracks: Back on the Streets (12" Club Mix) Live Fast Die Young (B-side) Krakatoa (B-side) The Medley (Heavy Metal Thunder/Stand Up and Be Counted /Taking Your Chances/Warrior) (Live B-side) CD 2 - BBC Friday Rock Show: Live At Hammersmith (1985): 01. Back on the Streets 02. Dallas 1 P.M. 03. The Devil Rides Out 04. Power and the Glory 05. Broken Heroes 06. And the Bands Played On 07. Crusader 08. Princess of the Night 09. Wheels of Steel 10. Rockin' Again 11. Strong Arm of the Law 12. 747 (Strangers in the Night) CD 3 - Rock The Nations (1986): 01. Rock The Nations 02. Battle Cry 03. Waiting for the Night 04. We Came Here to Rock 05. You Ain't No Angel 06. Running Hot 07. Party Til You Puke 08. Empty Promises 09. Northern Lady Bonus Tracks: Chase the Fade (B-side) Waiting for the Night (7'' Version) Northern Lady (7'' Version) Everybody Up (Live in Madrid, B Side of 'Northern Lady') Dallas 1 P.M.’ (Live in Madrid, B Side of 'Northern Lady') CD 4 - Destiny (1988): 01. Ride Like the Wind 02. Where the Lightning Strikes 03. I Can't Wait Anymore 04. Calm Before the Storm 05. S.O.S. 06. Song For Emma 07. For Whom the Bell Tolls 08. We Are Strong 09. Jericho Siren 10. Red Alert Bonus Tracks: I Can't Wait Anymore (12" Mix) Rock the Nations (Live At Hammersmith, B-side of Ride Like the Wind) Broken Heroes (Live in Madrid, B-side of I Can't Wait Anymore) Gonna Shout (Live in Madrid, B-side of I Can't Wait Anymore) If that's how it's arranged on the discs then EMI did a better job than they did with the first boxset did, albeit that there are less albums on this one. And I believe that these albums (With the exception of IINE) haven't been reissued with this many bonus tracks as well as being remastered. |

Received my Carrere Years set today. I'm currently on disc 3 and they do sound pretty good. Would certainly agree with your review on Amazon, although as a mad person who is a total (try to be at least) completist when it comes to Saxon it doesn't bother me too much.
Also interesting to read the booklet. Biff's comments are all reproduced from the 2009 remasters series, but some new comment from Oliver and Dawson.

I'm not sure if 'The Carrere Years' or 'The EMI Years' are going to be released on vinyl but Back On Black Records released 'Wheels of Steel' through to 'Rock The Nations' on double and single coloured vinyls earlier this year and they have the same bonus tracks (not the Hammersmith gig though) They are very good.
