Default Saxon at Rockwave Festival, Greece

Come hear the story come gather round, about Saxon playing in Malakasa town…

I had big concerns when I first read that Saxon where playing at our local summer fest (some of you might recall our conversation in London). There were many reasons, you don’t need to know though. Terra Vibe Park is about 40km outside of Athens on one edge of a forest. The last two days of the festival were canceled due to the heavy rain and thank God last night everything was fine!

Enough with the complains, lets get to the point. Saxon appeared at the “Vibe Stage” at 20:00 and during their one-hour set they completely smashed the place! They seemed like it was their first gig of the tour, so energetic and in mood for rock ‘n roll. Well, that’s Saxon you might say. I agree, they were looking very fresh though.

Biff: The master commander who knows how to manipulate crowds like no one.

Paul: He was in great mood, it was nice to see him “play” around the stage for a while.

Nigel: Although I couldn’t see straight to him (some speakers were stacked in front of me), his drumming was excellent and blasting! So loud!

Nibbs: We all know Nibbs and last night he was himself at it’s best. I love him!

Doug: Last but not least Doug had a great performance too, very solid guitar playing.

The sound was great once again (thanks goes to Saxon’s crue) and the fans so awesome! Biff said we’re on the top 3 along with Brazil and ?? I think we beat Brazil too Other than that, by the time Saxon went on stage I was so wasted that sometimes I was screaming the wrong lyrics, my Saxon pendant’s chain broke into pieces in my attempt to show it to Doug and of course I want to thank my best friend who drove my car back home because “you’re gonna crash in the next corner having drunk so much beer” as he said! hahahaha It was a great heavy metal day for me and Saxon did their best for this.

Setlist:

Battalions of Steel
Heavy Metal Thunder
Demon Sweeney Todd
Strong Arm of the Law
Motorcycle Man
Let Me Feel Your Power (!!!!)
Crusader
20.000 FT
Denim and Leather
Wheels of Steel

Encore:
Live To Rock
Princess of the Night

Btw Biff also said they’re coming again very soon, does this mean another date after the Spanish ones? Yeah, I’m dreaming but it sounds really cool!

Here are some pics from the show. You can see the full set at my facebook profile here: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...2&l=9bceee710b
