How many people where there?
Who can tell me that?

I would guess Donington 1980. Only other gigs of a similar size I could think of would be Wacken.

Donington 2010 would have been a bigger crowd than 1980 I suspect. After that as Fabs said Wacken.

The crowds actually were not that big for the first Donington festival, they grew and grew with 1988 having 108,000 there.

Attendance figures that I found oin the site below.

1980 35,000
1981 65,000
1982 50,000 to 60,000
1983 No figures found
1984 60,000
1985 80,000
1986 No figures found
1987 80,000
1988 108,000
1989 Cancelled due to two deaths at the 88 festival during Guns and Roses set
1990 No figures found - but capacity limited to 80,000 following the deaths in 1988

Numbers I've heard and read of for Donington 1980 vary from 60,000 to 80,000. Saxon's Wacken shows have about 40,000, I think, have to research the internet for more accurate figures.
