Default 70,000 Tons of Metal

More like 70,000 tons of beer!! What a party. Met up with Saxon before even entering the cruise terminal. (as luck would have it) There is just so much I could say about this trip, my post here would never end. Saxon was perfect both shows. Even threw in a song by request. The waves were very prominent during the second show. They made the best of it. Biff, always the showman, exaggerated the motion and made jokes. It was very funny. I hope someone posts it on YouTube. I didn't notice it but Nigel said later that he went to hit a cymbal and missed.

I had such a blast the entire time. Breakfast with Doug, casual dinner (pizza for me) with Doug and Nigel. Coffee with Biff and Nigel. Drinks with Doug and Nigel. Watch shopping with Doug. (apparently, he has a thing for watches) The Meet and Greet was awesome. Everyone got to take photos with the entire band. Everyone mingled together, bands and fans. You couldn't tell them apart sometimes. It was non stop heavy metal, day and night, 4 days. You couldn't escape it if you tried.

Biff did the shore excursion to the ruins. I took advantage of that time to sleep. (seen Tulum before anyway) By day 4, people were passed out in elevators, lounges, lobbies, you name it, people were sleeping there.

Nothing else in my life will ever compare to this experience. It really was the trip of a lifetime. So glad I went. There is so much more to tell but it would take hours.
Rumor has it 70,000 Tons 2012 will depart from the Mediterranean. All different bands, as the story goes.
I need a vacation!!!

There is a review of both of Saxon sets in the new issue of Classic Rock.

Overall it is fairly positive, but they reckon that the SAOTL set on the second night was much better than the WOS set the previous night.

They only reviewed Saxon from the cruise, and there are a few pictures as well. Sorry, but I don't have access to a scanner to share it all with you.

Apparently the cruise company were delighted with event as they broke the weekly record for alcohol sales before the ship had even left Miami!!!!
