I think Call To Arms is tied for Saxon's 2nd best album of all time with 2007's The Inner Sanctum. I think Call To Arms totally beats the tar out of Wheels Of Steel,Strong Arm of The Law and especially Denim And Leather album, sure there are classics on D & L but they also have some lame tunes in my opinion like Play It Loud,Rough And Ready,Out Of Control...

And just to me Call To Arms every song is something special, even the straight forward rock track "Chasing The Bullet" beats tracks like Suzie Hold On and Sixth Form Girls from the band's earlier albums.

We all have out opinions so I'm not sitting here telling you that mine should be the correct way of thinking,I know there are die hards that say Wheels is thier best album ect....its all good, but for me the top 3 albums of Saxon's career are Lionheart,The Inner Sanctum and Call To Arms.

Three listens now and its all starting to sink in. What a great album and what a belter of a song Orchestral Call To Arms is. That really does bode well for any orchestral project.

They've done it again as far as I'm concerned. It certainly sounds different from the last few albums, but the same applies to when I first heard Hammer of the Gods, it's a really great mix of older and newer Saxon. This is just going to get better every time I listen to it.

Also whilst I've not yet checked it against my other versions the Donington mix sounds fabulous. I am a very happy bunny

I second that, play it loud was HEAVY when they played it live, really good, but i guess it does sound a bit weak on the recording

It's really difficult to speak about such a great album. So, i'm gonna stop writing and push repeat to the cd player.

Agreed, then again, the whole recording sounds rather weak compared to today's standards

got the album this afternoon and have been playing it on my headphones
in the garden with a few brews and got to say saxon have done a great job
great songs such as hammer of the gods call to arms the excellent back in79 and chasing the bullet to name a few,not a filler on the album at all and the album is a grower and in my experience the growers are the best.orchestral version of call to arms is superb ,saxon are a band suited to orchestral music and am looking forward to the next project ,i think saxon will blow away the other bands that have done it before, now time to put on the donington disc ,well done saxon i have been a fan since the power and the glory album came out and am proud to say i still am a fan .
