Default Strong arm of the law

The track not the album

Does anyone know if this track is based on an actual incident where they got pulled over after a gig?

Would love to know Cheers!

According to some info that Dave Poxon posted on Facebook a few days ago to coincide with a photo, the band were pulled over at the Canadian border and search for drugs, and all they recovered was tea bags. Hence the story and particularly the last verse lyrics.

Good question. I have one similar. Was the band really that close to Chernobyl at the time? in reference to "Red Alert."

As far as I can tell from the lyrics, they were doing a concert in Budapest, Hungary when the radiation clouds from Chernobyl began to spread over central and eastern europe.
So they weren't perticularly close to Chernobyl, but the toxic clouds caused by it affected most of Europe, and Hungary is next to Ukraine so it was worse off than most..

I remember Chernobyl a lot of Europe was affected there was even worries that if the winds changed (like the recent ash cloud) that livestock in the UK was going to be affected.

I wonder how the panic merchants and elf n safety brigade would have coped in WW2? All the bomb shelters would have to undergo rigorous checks.

You would obviously have to wear a High Vis jacket before putting on your gas mask, the bombs would be falling and someone would be shouting "NO RUNNING"
