Default Living with Saxon.. A true Story.

My dad (John Taylor) worked with Pete Gill on the ten year British Gas national conversion programme that started in the 60`s. They lived in Sheffield and shared a flat. He told me about how Pete used to practice drums with a set of sticks on the radiator.

I found this out when my brother bought Wheels of Steel when it first came out and my Dad looked at the picture of the band on the back and said.. "Thats Pete my old work mate."

Later when Saxon played Doncaster Rotters nightclub on the WOS tour with the Tygers of Pan Tang, my dad went along and asked to see Pete.. Somebody said.. " a guy is here asking for `Frank.` Pete and my dad talked about the old times and he spent a few hours with the band and watched them go through a sound test and half a dozen songs.. I was 14 at the time and at school so I missed out green with envy.. That night my brother went to see them and told me they were amazing.. I missed out on that too because it was over 18`s only.. So I had to wait till the next year to see them at the City Hall Sheffield on the Strong Arm tour with Limelight as the support act... It was worth the wait. Just thought I would share that little bit of info with you... Crazy. I was a crazy Saxon fan and my dad used to live with a founder member from the SOB days....
