Every time I turn on Planet Rock they are either playing something by the Who, or a song I've never heard before. Every time I turn on Virgin Classic Rock they are playing something I do actually know. I hope Planet Rock gets saved but their playlist is absolutely shit!

Despite being threatened with closure, digital radio station Planet Rock has just received three Sony Radio Academy Awards nominations.

Planet Rock has been nominated for UK Digital Station Of The Year; Music Broadcaster Of The Year with Fish’s weekly show Fish On Fridays; and the Multiplatform Radio Award for its Led Zeppelin Month from last November.

Planet Rock continues to broadcast despite being put up for sale by owner GCap Media. Let's hope that if it does win any of those awards, it'll still be around to receive them…

I hear plenty of Saxon songs getting played on Planet Rock and even just a couple of weeks ago Nicky Horne played Dallas 1pm and said "this is for the princess, who is Saxon's most loyal fan". And I never even sent in a request for that song or anything - how cool is that

They do play too much Who, Tom Petty, Genesis, Jethro Tull etc., all of that stuff which I loathe, but its my favourite radio station and this morning I heard one of my favHawkwind songs, Urban Guerilla, that was only the second time hearing that on the radio which was followed by Krokus's Easy Rocker - SUPERB!!!!!

I nearly fell off my chair yesterday morning, right after the 9 O'clock news,Planet Rock played CRUSADER - what a shocker that was, never heard that before on PR.

I think the latest news is that Brian May is gonny be buying Planet Rock - excellent that it will be getting saved, just hope we don't have to suffer loads more Queen songs

Since You've Been Gone is a pretty boring track if you ask me. I forgot to email in my 3 songs but thankfully my alltime fav Rainbow song got played - 16th Century Greensleeves - that was magnfiicent. Planetrock played Frozen Rainbow yesterday or the day before and also Dallas 1pm - haven't heard any Saxon today though - whats that all about!!!!!
