Coolhead 02-26-2010 01:00 AM

Hi Highway Star,
It's going to be a while before it's out in the shops, I'm afraid.
Funnily enough, you can buy 'Highway Star', another of our documentaries about Ian Gillan... that's in the shops.
Cheers,
Coolhead

Gig addiction 02-27-2010 04:43 PM

I see its been delayed, but, for a good reason. Download festival was a very important part of recent career. I'd imagine people who sent their photos to Coolhead will see em on the dvd ? :-)

Live to rock 747 02-27-2010 07:14 PM

fuck, i booked a few days of work as well cause we was given a date when it was going to be released. Typical

Where did you hear the movie has been further delayed Gig Addiction, I've been searching the net and looking on Coolhead's website, Facebook and Twitter and can't find any word its been delayed further.

If this is the case I'm a bit disappointed, we have been given the 1st March release date a while now and I along with all the fans who pre-ordered have been looking really forward to it.

I fully supported Coolhead for the their postponement of its original release before Christmas but to delay it further for a few photos from Download, (which was nearly 3 years ago, whats took them so long) on the eve of its release is a real disappointment.

simon 1967 02-27-2010 10:10 PM

on saxon myspace site

thats where you will find the reason for the delay, does not give a month when the movie will be released, mega gutted:(

Cheers Simon, I'd been searching for a statement from Coolhead and I'd totally forgot all Saxon news is posted on their myspace site first. I'm gutted too mate.

Janet 02-28-2010 01:46 AM

Delays, delays (in my best Marvin the Martian voice). well, you can't really put a deadline on a masterpiece. these things happen all the time. It will all be worth the wait.

Live to rock 747 02-28-2010 10:32 AM

Seen as its going to be delayed again, while ya adding the download fest to it, Would ya consider adding the concert from the sunken gardens in san antonio or if not the full concert at least The eagle has landed from that concert, I seen it on youtube although the sound on it aint bad it aint brill prob from a mobile phone or something like, But the crowd responce to it was fuckin amazing.

And what is the new release date now, mid march or 1st april, or may, june.

Yeah im gutted its being delayed again like other people, I wrote ages ago on this forum about putting some or if not all of saxons footage from the download fest on the dvd, why wasent it done or considered back then, then we would have had our copys 1st march.

midnightrider 02-28-2010 12:00 PM

Fri 23rd April would be a good release date! Then we can celebrate the release at the St Georges day bash.:D

Same here scorpions, I would also like to know the new release date.

Coolhead have had my money since July last year so asking for a release date update is reasonable in my opinion!

Nick_the_VII_Saxon 02-28-2010 08:05 PM

postponed again andf again, okay... well anyway we just have to wait, it's for a good reason sure but hey!

Papadoc,

I can understand your disappointment, and assure you that we all feel the same, one thing i would say in defence of Coolhead, is that as Biff put in his blog, the delay is not of the making of Coolhead, and is a band decision based upon the new footage that they are looking at.

Am sure that once this additional footage of Download is added in, that we are in for a fantastic DVD and it will make all the waiting time worthwhile.

I would now think that we will probably have to wait until after the European tour for the release.

Cheers Martin

papadoc 03-01-2010 01:31 PM

Just had the e-mail update from coolhead, seems the delay will only be a couple of weeks.

Fingers 03-01-2010 04:12 PM

The film delay............

I appreciate some of the posts on here about the delay.

But one thing I would add is in all my dealings with "Coolhead" they have been very professional, open and honest with us.

I like all of you have paid my money and want see the film, but it's delayed because the Download footage has come to light. It isn't always easy to pickup footage and then getting agreement to use some or all of it can be time consuming and problematic. Personally I don't see the problem, yeah its delayed these things happen, get over it but remember they are adding more footage making it a bigger package of film and dvd for us all to enjoy. I'd be more upset if it was delayed because they are taking footage out.

[...]

yeah I agree
this product is destined to people and fans to discover Saxon "archives" etc and Download Festoch is an event sure
sorry for the nostalgy but I'd been wishing to be born in the 50's and be part of the Militia Guard etc I am a "young" (21years old) but the old of Saxon classics are so emblematic and deserve such a good opinion that I can only wait if it must for the DVD to be better. I am now listening to their first album Saxon - Saxon vynil and the quality is outstanding. As Biff says, 'better quality than quantity' and it's funny to say that because Biff and mates made tons of titles and albums of quality haha (they're so Legendary)

The rushs about ther DVD on Collhead's site (Saxon archives etc) are great, and I know the completed DVD will ROCK!

oh one note more, The name of the DVD shall be from Biff's will I think. He'd said he always wanetd to make an album HEAVY METAL THUNDER, which was realized via Classics Rerecorded, but this time a mythic DVD will be released and I hope Biff will love it (I think he's disgusting!)

Coolhead 03-03-2010 11:56 AM

Just so you know it's real...

Hi all,
I understand any disappointment over the further delay. It's very frustrating but exciting at the same time. Biff only discovered the footage a few days ago after months of searching. Added to that, Paul Quinn has finally unearthed and scanned his photo archive! And we need to get our narrator, Toby Jepson, to add an extra line of voice over to make it all work (we'll have to catch him on tour with GUN and Lynyrd Skynyrd this week to get that done). But as Fingers said, I'd rather be adding to it than taking away.
Just in case there are any doubters out there who may think we've taken your cash and are living it up in Rio without making the film, we've managed to negotiate with Classic Rock magazine to feature the film in the next issue. We'll be part of a feature on Rock Docs, and there's also a free DVD with a 15-minute section of the film on there (it had to be specially edited as they're only allowed two pieces of music per clip according to MCPS rules and the section it's taken from has several). The DVD should also contain clips from the new Rush film, ACDC's new doc and Lemmy's film.
You're the first to hear this (even before MySpace!) so check it out as soon as it's available! It's definitely real and it's *ALMOST* there! http://forum.saxon747.com/images/smilies/cool.gif
Cheers,
Coolhead

papadoc 03-03-2010 12:10 PM

Cheers for the update Coolhead.

Even though the delay is disapointing, it's for a good reason. Really looking forward to the finished product.

Thanks for the update Coolhead and understanding our disappointment at the delay. I'm sure the movie's gonna be fantastic when its completed. I can wait a little longer.

Fingers 03-03-2010 04:50 PM

Thanks Coolhead - Exciting news.

john dee 03-06-2010 12:56 AM

Personally - and I can see I'm in the minority here (of 1!), I think this further delay is very poor and unprofessional. I can't in all honesty say I'm surprised, though. I paid for the DVD on 14th August last year with a release date "before Christmas" - it's now March and there is now no firm release date.

I am very disappointed with the whole situation.

Still looking forward to seeing the DVD though!

RealGone 03-07-2010 12:20 PM

Hi!

Is there a definitive list of the extras included on this DVD set yet?
I recall reading a while back that it could include TWO complete concerts as well as the main feature, but I can't find anything definite online as to what's going to be included here. Thanks.

exact, and these include recent lives of St George with brillant list as SIXTH FORM GIRLS was played and this Paul Quinn's solo make me go insane!

Coolhead 03-11-2010 01:31 AM

Hi Realgone,
Here's a quick preview of the Special Edition DVD contents (cryptic titles only):

HMT The Movie (the Special Edition edit)
St George's Day 2008
Bremen 1981 concert
Building the Labyrinth
On a Crusade
No Excuses
The Eagle and the Bomber

It's over six hours worth of material. There's also some really good extra stuff which hasn't made the DVD (we set the bar really high) which we may put online later (we'll try and find a way to keep it exclusive to purchasers).
Cheers,
Coolhead

and there we say PROUD TO BE SAXON FAN!!!!!!!

RealGone 03-11-2010 11:50 AM

Thanks for the update, Coolhead. Quite keen to see the Bremen 1981 footage. I've been a bit of a lapsed fan of late...so I was hoping one of the full gigs on this was going to be an early one. I may have to pick this up.

Coolhead 03-11-2010 02:09 PM

I'm hoping we'll send it to the manufacturers early next week. I can't see any other problems on the horizon...

Now I've said that there's bound to be something else which will come and bite me on the arse and put it back again...
Fingers crossed, eh?

An update from Coolhead on the Movie

An update from Coolhead re. the movie, which I appreciate and hope you guys do to.

Hi all,

Sincere apologies for the continued delay in getting the DVDs of Saxon: Heavy Metal Thunder out to you.

As well as the extra footage found by Biff (see his note below), Paul Quinn has also just managed to scan his photo archive and has emailed it to us for inclusion in the film. That’s all done now, and we’re just waiting for the last legal document to be signed before sending it all off for authoring and manufacturing. We’re hoping this will happen on Monday (fingers crossed no pun intended :D), and then it will be two weeks before it gets sent out to you all.

It won't be long now and we honestly can't wait for you to see it.

It's been a true labour of love, one that we've enjoyed making with you, and we greatly value your patience and support, as do Saxon. Without you, this film could not have been made.

There's no doubt in our minds that when you sit down to watch the film, and all of the amazing extra’s we’ve crammed in (over 6 hours worth of material, with even more stuff which we’re planning to make available online to purchasers), you'll agree it’s been worth the wait. We're looking forward to holding our copies in our hands too.

We can now reveal a finalised list of the DVD contents:
· Heavy Metal Thunder – The Movie
· Saxon Live in Germany in 1981
· St George’s Day concert 2008
· The Eagle & the Bomber – on tour with Motorhead, ’79 – ‘09
· On a Crusade – Archive interviews from recording ‘Crusader’
· No Excuses – Archive footage from the ‘Innocence is No Excuse’ recording sessions
· Building the Labyrinth – Recording ‘Into the Labyrinth’

Two other bits of news: we’re being featured in next month’s Classic Rock Magazine – we’re part of a feature on rock documentaries, and a specially-edited 15-minute segment of the film is being included on a free DVD given away with the mag. It tells the tale of Saxon’s first tour with Motorhead in 1979 and is very entertaining. It’s slightly different to the version on the actual DVD because we were only allowed to use two music tracks on the Classic Rock segment (there’s loads of music on the full DVD version).

We’re also looking to smash our way into the UK DVD music charts. Only UK sales count, so if you’re from the UK and know someone who hasn’t bought the DVD yet, get them to do it NOW! I’m sure you agree, it would be great to see Saxon in the charts again, getting the recognition they deserve. All we need is another 150 UK sales (and for Michael Jackson to gracefully leave the charts) and we could have a number one!

If you have any comments or questions, please send them to SaxonHMTMovie@rocketmail.com where we’ll try to reply to them as soon as we can.

Kindest regards,

Coolhead Productions.
