Default Hello from old Bristol town .

A Saxon fan for years (about 1981 onwards) , I too think the sound dipped around 86 but they shook us all with Solid Ball of Rock and the albums since have been superb. They dont come to Bristol anymore so me and Saxon always seems to involve travelling , the last few years its been Cardiff , London , Dudley and on the "Night Out With the Boys Tour" Edinburgh!. Unfortunately I missed the "Inner Sanctum" tour earlier in the year (was in China , where they didnt play?!?!) so I am looking forward to Dusseldorf next Saturday , more miles on the clock but bloody worth it.

Hi AD 65. I'm from the forest of Dean, just across the Severn from you, so have also been seeing Saxon at Bristol a lot. Colston hall was always good, and on the Innocence was at the Hippodrome. However, I just wonder wether you, like me, was fooled into thinking Saxon were playing at the Beer Keller that time- when it turned out to be Son of a Bitch... I often wonder about it, because it was back in 2000 and I was initially pleased to see such a great turn out for it. Yet everyone was disapointed ( to put it mildly) and I think it must of had a detrimental affect upon Saxon's following...Were you there? and if so I'd love to hear what ever coments you might like to make...

Yes indeed I was there , I had a barney with the manager of the keller and tried to get my money back , I was not impressed , that singer was dire!. Next step was that I contacted the real Saxon`s manager at the time (Vince of Bloodstock fame , I believe) making a complaint and I think from this he put some legal stuff in motion which eventually got Oliver Dawson Saxon barred from using the Saxon name. It all got messy as you are aware. Saw Saxon at Colston on Eagle has Landed/Crusader tours and a couple of times at the Bierkeller in support of Solid Ball.... Got thrown out of Chippenham Golddiggers for trying to get on stage during Strong Arm of the Law ... ha, ha.
