Default RIP Mel Galley

Whitesnake's Mel Galley Dies
1st July 2008

Former Whitesnake guitarist Mel Galley has passed away aged 60.

The Express & Star reports that Mel passed away last night at his home in Heath Hayes from cancer of the esophagus.

After forming Trapeze in 1969 with the future Deep Purple/Voice Of God man, Glenn Hughes, Mel spent over fifteen years establishing the band as a solid, and vastly underrated, rock band. Medusa, You Are The Music Were Just The Band and Hold On are fantastic, but often overlooked albums.

In 1982 a chance encounter with David Coverdale at Monsters of Rock led Mel to join the line-up of Whitesnake. With them he appeared on two of the finest rock albums of the 1980s, Saints & Sinners and Slide It In.
