Red Dragon Cartel, new band by Jake E Lee and I am really liking this album. It's a very diverse album, even if you don't like every song I'm quite certain you'll find at least a couple that you can really get into (I like them all myself!). Also some very good guest appearances. I'll be catching them in concert in March, really looking forward to it!

Grand Magus - triumph and power new album. Really good more in the mold of hammer of the north and iron will than the last effort the hunt. Worth checking out by all saxon fans. Good old fashioned classic metal with great vocals.

It's an unsual collection of music today, starting with Sunn O)))'s collaboration with Ulver, 'Terrestrials'. The album is essentially Ambient, using Sunn's ominous drone style but with a lot less of their trademark 'Wall of Guitar' sound and has a much more melodic and even at times "Jazzy" feel with trumpets and other instruments most likely brought to the table by Ulver, a band who went from Death Metal to more experimental styles of music over their long career. In short, though both bands aren't too many miles apart in the Ambient/Experimental genres the coming together of both groups produces a unique sound that's relatively simple but incredibly captivating, although anyone expecting Sunn's heavy drone sounds may be let down,

Also on the player today is a grab bag of Mark Lanegan, namely his first three albums and his cover of 'The Beast in Me'. His style is quite blues-based with grungy overtones on almost all of his solo work, but that really shines through clearly on his early stuff. I highly recommend checking him out if you haven't already, he writes such dark but also beautiful and honest music.
