Saxon.

So how do Saxon follow that? By doing what they always do of course! Apparently Wasp blew a monitor and I could definitely hear a lot of vibration during the first three of four songs of the Saxon set, which was spoiling the sound, but it didn’t seem to put the band off if they could hear it.

I’m sure someone has the exact list but - Attila The Hun, Motorcycle Man, Let Me Feel Your Power, 747, Red Star Falling, Witchfinder General, Strong Arm Of The Law, To Hell And Back Again, Wheels Of Steel, Princess Of The Night, was what was played if I remember correctly.

Biff knew we all travelled over and acknowledged us which was nice. Saxonized threw his policeman’s helmet on stage, which Nibbs picked up and wore for a few seconds, before throwing it back into the crowd, which pretty much landed straight back on Saxonized head! Only disappointment was that they never played ‘I’ve Got To Rock (To Stay Alive). The song has become the forum anthem, so it would have been fantastic to hear it that night of all nights. But still, was a great show.

Saxon Chick only got a couple of pics of Saxon because it was too smokey and too much red background light. But you've seen one Saxon pic, you've seen 'em all! Unless you got some pics of Saxon rocking out in your garage or something!

Doro.

Only two of the party saw Doro, and they should have been on the bus at the time, so we won’t say anymore about that!

We all ended up in the backstage area somehow. Just a “We are with Saxon” was enough for security to open the gate and let us in! We briefly saw Nibbs and Doug, but then headed off to our waiting bus. A few of the others might have something to say at this point, but I’ll leave it for them to tell (or not as the case may be!).

And that was that. I saw the three bands that I wanted to see, and saw three fantastic performances. Well worth the 40 euros for the ticket. And then it was the long drive back to the house, and it really did seem to take forever. Most of the gang stayed up, so they might have a story to tell, but a few of us had had enough and called it a night.

Sunday.

We were up at about 7.30 with a taxi booked to take me, Saxon chick, Fingers, Saxonized, Tim & Debbie to the airport. We said our goodbyes to Udo, who was the only other person up, and headed off to the airport. Me and Saxon Chick almost made a complete balls up, not realising that it was actually an hour later than we thought it was because we had not put our watches forward, and we were leisurely browsing around the duty free shop thinking we had all the time in the world!

We landed at Stansted to no fanfare, so I guess we must have been late! We all said our goodbyes and headed off in our separate directions. Me and Saxon Chick arriving back in Manchester about 6.30pm. So it was a long weekend with all the travelling, but worth every minute of it!

So let me say a big thank you to Udo and Kerstin for arranging everything and making everything go so smoothly. And also a big thank you to the Düsseldorf 19 for making it such an enjoyable weekend. Same time next year?!!

top review pal
agree with your comments about wasp and udo
i thourght udo rocked infact im listening to man and machine as i type
but wasp just cranked it up a notch
i saw wasp 4th november and it was just the crimson idol set which was good but not a set that they should play to people that arnt familar with that album , so i was abit apprehensive about there set on saturday , dont know why i was worried , they were awesome , as soon as i saw the dominator backdrops i knew we were in for a treat
anyways thanks for the review and the pics is it really 5 days ago
HAPPY TIMES
