Yes it does, I thought about putting it in my Sky Arts/ TV thread. I'm not the biggest Punk fan myself but you cannot deny it's influence in the grand scheme of things.

I love true punk, best punk band in the world is the Ramones with PiL, The Stranglers, Sham 69 and The Damned coming in close seconds, the Clash are good but I do think they are overrated and they get far too much airtime.

New Wave (not to be confused with NWOBHM) has plenty of misses as a lot were a bit on the commercial side and very watered down and some really good ones such as Blondie and Ian Dury & The Blockheads

See, it's all about personal opinion isn't it. I like some of the bands you mention but I thought PiL were utter garbage, that's just me though

We all know what brings every single person on this forum together, that little 'ol band from... not Texas but Yorkshire - Saxon

Absolutely J, and like I said that's only my opinion. Music is such a wonderful and diverse medium. It would become very bland if we agreed on everything

It appears the first part mentions some of the 'pub rock' bands that preceded punk.

I was never a big punk fan myself, but those days of pub rock were great-Dr Feelgood were my choice and I saw some stunning gigs by them.

Also saw Ian Dury at Brunel Uni and a band called Chuck Farley (geddit?) and Dave Edmunds at the Red Lion in Brentford, now sadly a MacDonalds!
