Default Saxon Bloodstock Open Air 10.08.2014

A truly outstanding gig from start to finish. The weather during the morning had been dreadful with constant heavy rain and wind. Saxon took the stage around 6pm and the sun came out and dried everything up nicely.

Biff and the boys were in a very good mood, Biff said it was due to them being wired on Redbull after a marathon trip from Germany. The sound was tremendous, loud and clear as a bell. I was joined by Doom Rider and 747Rick, along with my girlfriend and good mates. Beer was plentiful and we sang our hearts out while rocking hard. The crowd response was amazing too and fists were pumping.

I'm a little hazy for obvious reasons with the set list but highlights for me included Battalions of Steel, To Hell and Back Again, Power and The Glory, Sacrifice and Denim and Leather when Dave Mustaine came on and joined them for a rollicking run through of it. I was deliriously happy at this stage and the crowd were all beaming from ear to ear.

It was over all to quickly and there were high fives and backslaps aplenty afterwards. We all went our separate ways after to different parts of the festival site..and me to the bar Surely Saxon must headline Bloodstock one year soon??? As everybody knows Saxon really are right at the very top of their game and long may it continue. \m/

Bit late with this but anyway lol. Great review Jim and it was awesome meeting you all. Saxon were on absolutely top form. I'd love them to headline Bloodstock again but I somehow feel that'll not happen now unfortunately. THey were still best band of the day by a mile See you in Nottingham
