Smile My thoughts on sacrifice

My thoughts on saxons 20th studio album.

Firstly i think the production and the mix on the sacrifice album is spot on
and the best ive heard from saxon.

Procession - Love the intros to saxons albums every saxon studio album should have
a intro to it and procession fits really well leading into the track sacrifice.

Sacrifice - What a belter of a song to crank this album in, Loads of cool heavy guitar riffs
Quite a while ago i put on nigels facebook page could we have more drum fills
into the songs well we truly got em on this track, nice one nigel
Fav part of this song for me kicks in at about 2.09 just after the solos this section
sounds very cool and powerfull love it, over all sacrifice is a 10/10.

Made in Belfast - cool and different start to this song with the Banjos then into a heavy riff
and drums, nice bit of melody 2.12 nice true story telling in this song
Fav part of this song kicks in 2.40 nice heavy guitar part with the guitars
jumping from speaker to speaker love it another 10/10.

Warriors of the Road - An in ye face smack in the guts high octane tempo track, Have that.
Every saxon album has to have at least one of these.
Fav part of this song kicks in 1.51 the solo dipping down the tempo
but still keeping the song heavy then straight out of the solo straight
back into the high octane again. Another storming song and another 10/10.

Guardians of the Tomb - yet again another cool start to this song then into the melody
Fav part of this song kicks in 0.34 check this mother of a guitar
section what a fu--in dream then into the up tempo heavy riff again
cool lyrics and chorus and drums. Another 10/10

Stand up and Fight - How to make it in a band, stand up and fight simple as that
i wish it was lol cool song and a good statement as well
just to get through life sometimes as well 10/10

Walking the Steel - Ive been totally honest with my thoughts on the songs and my scores
but for me walking the steel has to be my least fav song of the album
i love saxon songs that flow or kick arse but at the mo this song dosent get
anything going for me sorry guys gotta be honest 6 or 7/10

Night of the Wolf - cool song, fav part of song kicks in 1.42 9/10

Wheels of terror - well, well what have we here then. I tell ya what we got, We got a Diamond
of a song thats what we got. Just listen to that first guitar riff wall to wall
driving guitar powerfull another fu--in dream of this album o man i am so
friggin happy this baby made it onto the album a killer of a song, then after that
awesome driving riff into another heavy section killer lyrics guitars drums.
fav part of the song o man i just love this section kicking in at 2.47 at the end
of the solos which are shit hot guys burning them wall to wall driving guitars
then the bass drum pounds in slaps on the hi-hat, bang bang crash back into
the rytham for everybody awesome tempo, guys that section of the song and the whole song
is a music orgasm at its most extreme. Dont ye just love saxon a massive 10/10.
This song better be in the live set a monster.

Standing in a Queue - HaHa wasent really sure what to make of this song at first lol,
But after a few more spins yeah i no its just a fun song and yeah
i like it now 9/10

Overall this album has got everything you could possibly wish for cool lyrics and singing, Biff man you just
get better and better in the studio and live and thank God saxons wheels are still rolling.
paul and dougs guitar work is prob the best ive ever heard lots more melody parts on this album
but plenty of cool heavy riffs and driving riffs and solos awesome guys. Nigels Drumming is spot on
with more fills in the songs and good driving tempos on the songs and nibbs bass playing which you
can hear really well on this album really cool.

This album is awesome the production, the mix, the writing and performances of all the guys in saxon.

Hold your Heads high saxon and stand proud.

Im just praying now this isent saxon last studio album you guys have got at Least another album in ye
Thankyou so much for giving us fans sacrifice I LOVE IT. A powerfull album.
From the masters of Rock N Metal.

Really knocked out by this album. I think Guardians of the Tomb is my favourite. Sacrifice, Wheels of Terror, Night of the Wolf and Walking The Steel are also brilliant. The only fly in the ointment is Standing in a Queue. The opening is good, but then it is seriously downhill from there. It Sacrifice's equivalent of 6th Form Girls ( a bad song on an otherwise great album)

I think this is a fantastic album, and blends together all the best elements of the band. Not only does it keep the modern aggression and energy that they've displayed on the albums since I got back into them(with Metalhead), it then sticks sublime riffs and melodies on top of practically every track ala their chart friendly days. Plus they kind of nod their heads in appreciation to the European power metal bands that brought metal back into vogue,as I could easily imagine a couple of the tracks being done by Hammerfall.Of course you might think I'm talking crap, but hey isn't it just great they've made a cracker of an album, and different people are finding different things to love about it. I hope they play the bulk of it live.

Thumbs up All great!

I think all of those songs are great for me first great one are Sacrifice why it is Heavy Metal ! then is Belfast too and the meloy of Guardians and the again heavy of Walking the steel inthe middle is a trippng dream! Standing in the queue is feeling strange unusual in these other great tracks. The music is great but an odder storyline. . I leave this one alone but Wheels of Terror is great to fit in the Metal vibes I look to the tour and can't wait

I got that carried away with the new songs i forgot to mention the packaging and yeah like the music inside the packaging is A1 Love it. The bonus disc is also cool the Re-Recorded version of Forever Free sounds loads better then the original. Crusader version is cool, just let me rock is ok. And although im not a massive fan of saxon doing the accoustic stuff i gotta admit they have done a really good job on frozen and remember. Nice one saxon.
