Personally, I love that Nosferatu doesn't sound like a "standard" Saxon song. I love that they are willing to stretch themselves and try something a little different. Predator is growing on me for similar reasons, it caught me off guard at first listen but it's starting to grow on me. I would never want a whole album of songs like Predator (specifically the vocals by Hegg, I'm not a fan of that vocal style), but one song like that I think works good on the album.

I don't get the disdain for Predator & Sniper, fine jams!

I suppose most bands would love to write songs like Predator (it's growing on me - I think it's Pantera inspired as it sounds like 'Walk' and Quinn Genius is a fan of theirs) and the mediocre 'Sniper'.

They are not bad songs, but when you follow the metal aristocracy that is the MIGHTY SAXON, the bar is always set that bit higher!! ☺

You mean like "I Can't Wait Anymore" and "Party 'Till You Puke?"

Ha ha!! Fair point. ☺ Even if there's a good guitar solo by Quinn Genius on 'I can't wait anymore'.

I'm surprised you didn't mention 'Hold On' from 'Dogs of War' - that's the one I love to hate!!

However, they have since atoned for those past sins!!

I should've mentioned "A Bit of What You Fancy!" *barf*

Everything has been top shelf since "Unleash the Beast", I won't go back any further, since the previous two are rather red-neck back woods pig roast biker rock sounding...

At this point I like every Saxon-album.
My least favourite is Rock The Nations.
As far as Saxon-songs I don't like, there are only a handfull:

Big Teaser, Wheels Of Steel (this one would be ok if it had a better solo and didn't go on too long.), Machine Gun, Warrior, Rock City, Gonna Shout, Waiting For The Night, Party Till You Puke, Northern Lady, Crash Dive, Attila The Hun, Back In '79 and No Rest For The Wicked.

I like Northernlady. It's a nice ballad.
But this is all a matter of taste.

hello everyone,

i like that album very much. more as battering ram i think. but i also LOVE sacrifice and call to arms.

i've got the vinyl of thunderbolt, but i'm VERY disapointed of the printing qualitiy on the inner and backside of that album. the photos look blurry and pixelated. simply embarrassing in modern times. photos were better printed 30 years ago. why is it like that?
