Two that I'm listening to at the moment

UDO - Celebrator,

New two disc collection of rare tracks and remixes etc, and being a big fan of both Helloween and especially Gamma Ray i'm also giving,

Helloray - Tribute To Helloween & Gamma Ray

a spin.

Huntress - Spell Eater

I think I'm going to have to give this one a few more spins! Whilst its well played and Miss Janus obviously has a decent set of pipes It's leaving me a little underwhelmed at the moment! It's old school Heavy Metal with a touch of thrash. The production while modern also has that old school feel aka 3 Inches Of Blood etc BUT something is missing IMO.

Whether I just don't get it or the fact that every picture you see recently of the band has the lead singer draped virtually naked in various poses (something I dislike when promoting music) has left me cold I don't know.

I'm certainly going to give them a fair hearing. They are quite obviously more talented than some Female Fronted bands who use sex as a tool because they cannot sing, but, I think, at the end of the day the songs just aren't strong enough and a bit too similar to each other.

I do love the album cover though.

Yeah I know what you mean I bought the album because I heard the song "Eight Of Swords" which was fantastic but it took me a few spins to get into it and I kinda felt it was lacking something.

Jill does have a unique voice there's times when she sounds like King Diamond and times she sounds like Dani Filth.

Oh good, it's not just me then I certainly noticed the King Diamond comparison (one of my fave bands) It seems to me like they are being pushed as the new big thing, but its all style over substance.

After a day in the sun, and before I settle down to an evening of Eurovision I've been spinning

Red White & Blues - 3 Track sampler
Classic Rock sent to me today (forgot to include it with my mag). They are indeed excellent and I shall be getting the album.

And the wild, wacky and absolutely fabulous;
Diablo Swing Orchestra - Pandoras Pinata (2012)

I'm now in laid back mood and listening to the wonderful soulful voice and blues /rock album of;

Lee Small - Jamiaca Inn (2012)

Im not that familiar with Lee's material, apart from hearing him on the Phenomena album. I shall have to seek out the more recent Shy stuff and anything else he's done because this guy has a got a great voice and could quite easily put more mainstream singers to shame. It really bugs me that there is so much talent around, in our chosen field of music, that gets so unfairly overlooked.
