Default An Unexpected Surprise

Hi! Allow me to offer an introduction before my surprise. I joined the forum just to share this story so suffer through to it or skip to it, whatever. My first CD was In A Gadda Da Vida (in 1997, no less), and I quickly got into Deep Purple, Rainbow, DIO, and through Ronnie James I got into the wider world of metal. I usually stick to bands with good guitarwork, like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath and Van Halen. Admittedly I later branched out into talented guitarists from other genres, like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Brian Setzer and Duane Allman. I can't play worth a lick but something inside just rings when you hear the right notes at the right times, you know?

I need something to keep my blood pumping in December, so I went to Best Buy to pick up some Saxon. I had heard Denim and Leather before, but I didn't own a Saxon album. I was looking for The Eagle has Landed on a suggestion from a friend, but it wasn't there so I got The Inner Sanctum. There was a guy with a sword on the back, so I figured it had to be good.

Inside staring back at me is a Matchbox 20 CD. The bonus DVD? A solo album by Richard Ashcroft from the Verve (I had to look him up). Honestly I buy things with swords on them to try to avoid this sort of music. Interestingly both respective liner notes are included, with the Saxon cover art being a single one sided page in the front. I put the Matchbox 20 cd in the player just to see if it was just a joke. It wasn't. Or was it just more sublime than my coarse mind could appreciate? You tell me.

So I still don't know what the album is like. Is it good?

It's better than great (in my opinion)..........Just to add to your misery La Tene, while we were at Hard Rock Hell in Minehead this November we found an Inner Sanctum CD which someone had obviously been using as a mini frisbee. It's now my mate ecilop's resident in-car CD!
