too difficult to choose. saxon are one of the few bands who are releasing stuff which is as good as anything they've ever done. same as motorhead.

Thumbs up

If i have to choose one album and it is hard but I will say:

POWER AND THE GLORY !!

Text from the song Power and the glory:

"the general say´s we will win the war, just sacrifice a thousand more"
Just one of all brilliant textlines Saxon have written !
I get the chill every time I hear this textline. But that is what "War starters" really think ! How can you win a war when you sacrifice a thosand people ?

My favourite Saxon album is usually the one I'm listening to at the time. Hard to pick a favourite but if I was pushed I'd go for The Inner Sanctum, with Strong Arm Of The Law a very close second.

That will probably change tomorrow though!

I know a lot of people aren't fond of those albums, but I would love to hear some of the songs off Innocence and Destiny live

Destiny- Ride Like the Wind, SOS, Jericho Siren, Red Alert, Calm before the storm
Innocence- Call of the Wild, Back on the Streets, Raise some hell, Live fast Die young..

Saxon played Ride like the wind and Back on the Streets in November '09, it was awesome!

Denim and Leather from the early years, and Lionheart to Unleash the Beast from the later years.

In truth I love all the first 4 or so and all the last from Lionheart on. But the raw power and youth anngst portrayed on the early years, the gemius of the riffs, melodies and downplaying into " E Chord" was brilliant. It gave them their sound.

If we can't have Wheels, Strong Arm or D&L, then Power and the Glory, Forever Free, Inner Sanctum are all quality to my ears.

I have no doubts The best one album is Wheel of Steel and I hope will be CALL TO ARMS (due to 4 song I heard)
If tell honestly each Saxon album has advantages and disadvantages
but I love them all together without spliting
Saxon is Saxon you love them or not

I am not sure that I have a favourite Saxon album, for me, Saxon are at their best in the live environment and not neccessarily on CD/album.
All the albums have something good on them, even Rock The Nations.

Maybe my vote would go to "Heavy Metal Thunder" as best album as the sound quality is so good, the music is just stunning. (Unlike the bonus CD that comes with it which is just embarrasing).

I also particularly like "Power & The Glory", "The Inner Sanctum", "Unleash The Beast" &, perhaps controversaly, "Innocence Is No Excuse" which for me is, "very listenable".

2 differants bands for me. I cant compare the first 5 with the last 5. Its the ones in between that are the let down.Having said that there are some hidden jems,i have always been fond of Rock The Nations.

Think of it guys. Best album was Saxon. Because everything started from this first album. Every album is a diamond. Every single riff, letter in the lyrics, bassline, drumming( i don't know the right expression in English sorry). Even songs/intros like the letter or Jack Tars or The Return are great.
