I'm going to get the Classic Rock fan pack of the Slash Album- looking forward to it.

I was watching Saxon Wacken 2004 but as I've been thrown off the TV by Mrs Rick (she wants to catch up on Desperate Housewives! How rock 'n' roll is that ) and my DVD in 'The Pit is not yet connected I'm listening to the new Sonata Arctica album 'Stones Grow Her Name.

As a long time fan of the band on first listen I was a little unsure with it. But this is my 4-5th listen now and it's just clicked. Unmistakably Sonata Arctica but they've calmed down on the speed and complexity with this one. The melodies are beautiful. It demands to be listened to with headphones and eyes closed. Another winner

Toby Hitchcock - Mercury' Down (2011)

Fantastic vocalist who fronts Pride of Lions with Jim Peterik. This is quite similar to that band so (IMO) a definate Survivor vibe. Full to the brim with Melodic Rock goodness
