Done a bit of digging:

The kit Nige is using on the US tour is equipped with triggers but they are not turned on when he is playing.

Thanks for that mate. Although to be fair it should be obvious he isn't actually playing them, but on the other hand Nige is that good perhaps people think he is using them. There is a certain irony in that

i'm sure they're nice boys...but I am here for one purpose only, to rock with my Boys whom I've not seen since '83, I will not be present during Borealis. After listening to their music it was clear they are not my cup of tea.
