Default Thank you all!

It's great to suddenly realise that I have several kindred spirits around the world. It's also nice to think about the eternal question: where were you in 79, when the dam began to burst? I know where I was; listening to Stallions of the Highway

I was 11, just starting comprehensive school and it would be another 2 1/2 years before I 'discovered' Saxon!!

As for this forum, and I have said it more than once, I have never met or talked to a nicer bunch of people. This is a great place.

At this time the old school of a village near my hometown became a communtiyhouse and the cellar was a place for young people to meet. There I came in contact with saxons music from the beginning.

There are other threads on here with our "introduction to Saxon" stories, but in answer to your question:

I am now 49 so was the perfect age to catch Saxon, NWoBHM et al back in the day.

I had read about Saxon in Sounds Newspaper and, very unusually, heard Big Teaser on the radio, which, I thought was The Sex Pistols until they announced who it was on the radio.
Our local record store was called "Discassette" and the owner was into rock music*. I ordered the Saxon album and he asked if he could listen to it before he gave it to me !

The rest, as they say, is history, well 'my' history anyway.

*went on to become the first 'manager' of Trespass, who remain one of my all time favourite bands.
