I read from a local paper, that Saxon used to put a guitar in fire at the end of their concerts...
True? Do they still do it at bigger shows, if not then why..?

and if anyone has any pics, then I'ld be interested...

reason they dont do it now .... well when hendrix did it ,it became a part of rock history... when graham did it , it was just cheesy

I gotta say burning a guitar is pretty rocknroll...Ya want to tralk Cheesy?? Paul Quinn wearing his Angus Young hat. I really think Saxon couldnt break in the states because of the image they presented. Steve Dawson just didnt look like a Metal musician. Looking at a band photo with Paul Quinn on one side and Steve Dawson on the other really hurt them. Image is everything.... especially in the 80s :)

I saw him as well - the thing that struck me was all thru the gig he played on one or two nice guitars with radio leads, then he brought out a very basic looking guitar on a normal cable and set this one on fire - not really rock and roll!

i saw Graham and the whole burning guitar swinging on a cable extravaganza too, and thought it pretty cool at the time- no one else was doing this--and ah, if he'd had burn his Hendrix SG the audience would have cried.

As for image-back then- Dyson* did let the side down pretty drastically-it was funny to find out that the bass player from Spinal Tap was based on a study of himself.

As for Paul he didn't look so bad in his cap ( Cheap Trick did alright!) but can we forgive him those awful wigs?

Saw Graham set fire to his guitar on the Solid Ball of Rock tour, and that was the last time I saw him do it. I think the fact that he is a huge Hendrix fan must have had something to do with it.

I saw Oli at cardiff 10 years of Saxon tour and he pulled his pants down -needless to say he didn't set fire to anything!
