Hi to all.

I was just thinking about Saxon`s popularity here in Finland, and I think it`s totally under what this legendary band deserve. Saxons is definetly one of the greatest heavymetal band along with, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and for my taste Scorpions. I have to say that I`m "new" Saxon fan, first product that i bought from them was Chronicles DVD, back in 2003, but late 2006 I really get in the Saxon world, and now there`s no turning back;)

What people here in the forum think about Saxon`s reputation, in the world of heavymetal and music general. For me this band is now even more important than Iron Maiden, wich I have been listening since 1993. Saxon has more different kind of songs and styles that Maiden propably don`t have, and I think that is the reason what makes them so great.

So how we get this band the succes that they REALLY deserve, altought I think they are now going everytime they release new album..up and up. Lionheart and The Inner Sanctum albums are really one of their greatest records, and thats kind of statement for a band that has been so long together.

Ps: sorry my bad english, but I´m still learning:)

Welcome to you scorpions. Your English is fine (and SO much better than my Finnish, which doesn't exist at all!)

I agree that Saxon are very much underrrated, especially over here in the UK but from what I've seen so far The Inner Sanctum has already made a difference. Quite a large number of my friends & work colleagues have heard it & are now looking at Saxon with interest (and in the case of those in my age group RENEWED interest). Also my 14 year old son tells me that many of his friends are now listening to saxon as a result of the last 2 releases.

The message certainly seems to be getting out there & hopefully we'll see Saxon back where they belong! :D

Too right. Due to a FANTASTICHE album, and much hard work and dedication by all the Band and Thomas Jensen - Saxon are getting back where they belong. Can't comment on the documentary yet - but the end result is extra publicity for Saxon with TV appearance and radio time. No publicity is bad publicity (except perhaps for Garry Glitter !!).

The army of Saxon fans in the old days used to be called Militia Guard and then Saxon National Guard. Lets all get together and help spread the word and raise Saxon’s profile. Philthy Phil was telling me he played Inner Sanctum at full volume in a multi-storey car park with all doors and windows open - and many people came up and asked what it was and where to get the album !! Well done Geeeza !! Bring as many new recruits along as you can to the Saxon gigs – and they are sure to be converted !!! Let’s get “Back on the Streets” and “Rock The Nations” again !!! “North, South, East and West, we'll put you to the test as we rock across your nation”

Cheers,

Goss.

Great thread Scorpions as Philthy said your English is excellent.

I was looking back through some old tickets before the documentary (no shredder jokes ;) ) and in 2001 Saxon were playing the LA2 in London which can't hold more than 750, look at them now they pretty much sell out the Astoria (R.I.P. ) every tour which is what 1500 capacity ! Add that to the fact they are going back to cities in the UK they hadn't played since the early 80's & 90's like Manchester for example. And don't get me started on mainland Europe most of the early dates if not all have been sold out.

And the reason for this is plain and simple they are GREAT MUSICIANS producing great albums :)

Thanks to you all for the nice words:)

Great thing about Saxon is also that this current line-up is one of the best in the band`s career, if not the best. I think that`s kind of rare, that if any band makes some line up changes, often they kind of lost the spark..or simply comes less good in terms of new music and popularity also goes down.

Just if you think bands like Maiden with Blaze or Sabbath +, Saxon is different kind of thing, because they have allways made right changes with new members etc. at least with this new line up. I think that Saxon is going to take the world by storm, with The Inner Sanctum and this new tour!!!

Can`t wait to see them, may in Helsinki

Well, I hope they will conquer the world by storm with the new album.

I have seen the show in Oberhausen and it was really great. Ok, if they should fulfill all wishes they must at least play 3 hours  After all, the setlist was very good, although I wished they had played "Need For Speed" or "Motorcyle Man" or "Heavy Metal Thunder".

I'm looking forward to the gig in Osnabrück in 2 months. Over the last few years I have seen a couple of Saxon-shows and never they did disappoint me!

BTT, unfortunately I must agree, they are very underrated. And if I read your comments, this is much in UK than in f. e. Germany or the Netherlands. The whole crowd raised their fists in the air and most of the shows are (nearly) sold out. What's going on in England, I ask myself

They are underrated in Italy too! I don't read metal magazine since years, but I remember that, more or less 10 years ago, Saxon weren't very much talked about. Besides a new release by them was treated like one by a standard old band. I dont' tell a review about Saxon needs fanfare (but why not?), but a bit of special attention yes! They were less rumored than "young" band like Iced Earth, Gamma Ray, Running Wild or younger average power metal bands. It's a shame. Besides Dogs of War and Unleash the Beast reviews were quite cold, while they are two good albums (especially Unleash). In 90's Saxon made more albums than Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and in certain time their ones were so far better than Maiden or Priest ones, both in writing and production side. For instance in 1997/98 we have Unleash the Beast, Jugulator and Virtual XI...nothing more to say...
P.S.Please, tell me when I make some grammatical error!

Well, I am, but only to the "British" people! lol I only do it to people who come on here and piss me off though! :D I wouldn't dream of correcting anyone who had taken the trouble to learn our language, and am amazed at how good their English is! :)

Heathen: you are right! You are unfaithful!!! Thor, Tyr, Odin and Biff will punish you!:)
Saxon Chick: thanks for your offer and greetings. You are very kind, but "excellent" is too much for my English!:)
