Hi all
Just wondering, does anyone know what happened to Paul Johnson after he left the band? I haven't heard of him since.
Cheers

Hi,
I made some researches without any success. I've just found some news about his pre-Saxon life. He played in Heritage (with his brother Steve on guitar, a future member of Uzi along with Steve Dawson and Nigel Durham) with which released Remorse Code in 1982 and then in Statetrooper (with his brother and Gary Barden, former MSG singer). It's just what I know...sorry...

He ended up in a band called Guns 'n' Oatcakes (a cover band) with his brother Steve. I believe he is now a driving instructor.

That would be interesting lessons,.. talk about his Saxon-time, get some inside info etc... whilst learning to drive a car, would be fun!

:) Yes! It would have to know where he teaches! By the way: does anyone know where K. K. Downing Bed & Breakfast is?

Paul (or better known as "Fasker") is in fact a driving instructor. He does still gig now and again with brother Steve with Guns'n'Oatcakes, moreso if its in his home town of Doncaster. http://www.guns-n-oatcakes.co.uk/index.htm
At the moment Steve's son is doing bass, but Paul does play when son Arran is not available. They do play 747 with Paul on vocals, and is to be one of the tracks on their 3rd album. There is a few tracks on the web-site to listen to, the live ones were with Paul on bass. Brother Steve the front man with Guns'n'Oatcakes did an album with Steve Dawson a number of years ago called "Pandemonium Circus" and only recently issued due to legal problems. http://www.rockdetector.com/discography,31500.sm;jsessionid=FB740C332A09B4182B C63D3A0CA1CE9C#recordings162712
It was Steve Johnson who did the vocals and the lead guitar.
Keep an eye open for when Guns'n'Oatcakes are playing in Doncaster via the web-site and you may well catch him at the gig.
You can also get messages to Paul through the Guns'n'Oatcakes web site via the myspace link. Paul is a nice guy and approachable and would be more than happy to hear from anyone.
For those who are into trivia. Steve Johnson was the last guitarist with Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy). So the rock music connection with the Johnson brothers is strong.

Thanks and welcome (also for Ruthem215!)! I knew Steve J. was on Steve D. album, but I didn't know Steve J. and Lynott worked together!

This is an interesting thread, thanks Guys.
By the way ; I have had Pandemonium Circus for many years, so not sure what you mean by "recently issued".
Its not my favourite album.
.
Great stuff guys.

The album was recorded in 1986 and kept on the shelf for years for legal reasons.

Yes, more or less it was released 15 years late...

It might have been on the shelf for years for legal reasons, but as XRWoody said, it has been out for many years.

Steve Johnson (rear left) Paul Johnson (rear right)
The guy in front is Darren Hurst who had a spell of about 2 years with Guns'n'Oatcakes before returning to the states. His site is well worth a visit: http://www.myspace.com/darrenhurst

Just a quick up date on Paul "Fasker" Johnson. He is a driving instructor but spends a lot of time working for Paul Carrack ( Mike and the Mechanics). Guns and Oatcakes the band he was in with his brother split up about a year ago. Paul still lives in Doncaster with his wife Sam and 2 children.

just a couple of questions: is true or is it just a rumour that it was Biff who actually played the bass parts in Rock the Nations?
and when did Paul Johnson left the band? because I've always know that Nibbs played in some 88 gigs (he is credited as bass-player in the Rock and roll gypsies album)
